Petrol heads are being invited to swap Newquay for Monte Carlo and burn rubber over Europe for charity.

Organisers of the Monte Carlo or Bust Banger Rally, which will take place throughout June and July this year, are looking for drivers from Cornwall to traverse more than 1,000 miles to the district in Monaco via France, Switzerland and Italy.

In the Top Gear-style event, drivers will be challenged to pick up an old banger costing less than £250, and take part in a series of silly challenges for points and prizes.

The three-day adventure will see more than 100 of the finest British bangers visit some of Europe’s most stunning locations and experience spectacular roads with backdrops of sun, sea, sand and snow.

Teams will be able to share their progress with supporters back home via live GPS tracking.

Rally spokesperson, Cuthbert Ware-Armitage, said: “I am laying down the challenge to the good people of Newquay to join me on Europe’s ultimate banger rally adventure.

“This is a brilliant opportunity to get your team into gear and experience some of the greatest roads in Europe in some of worst cars from Newquay.”
