Neighbours living near to a lake in Black Rock, Camborne, have expressed their shock at the discovery of a body.
The male corpse, which has not yet been identified, was found submerged in water at Cargenwen lake in Tremayne on Tuesday night.
The spot is a popular place for fishing and walking.
John Harris, who lives near the lake, has described seeing a car pull up at around 8.15 on Tuesday morning.
Mr Harris said: “People come here to fish and they stay all day and sometimes all night so we didn’t think anything of it.
“A police helicopter came about eight in the evening, but the police haven’t told us anything about it.
“This is the first time ever that anything like this has happened and I have been here for 70 years.”
Enquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the death, but police do not think is suspicious at this time.
