FINAL preparations are well underway at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall for the BBC Children in Need Party for Pudsey on Friday.

The Maritime Museum in Falmouth has been chosen as the host venue for the regional broadcast of BBC Children in Need in the South West, which promises to be a fun packed occasion with a whole host of events taking place throughout the day.

There will be live feature broadcasts by the BBC Spotlight team on BBC1 at 1.30pm and 6.30pm, as well as live links into the national TV network programme throughout the evening.

During the day, from 11am-2pm, staff and volunteers will be taking part in a sponsored abseil from the museum’s 100-foot tower, which is being run by BF Adventure, the outdoor activity centre and charity based near Penryn.

The courageous souls from the Museum will be joined by one of the BBC presenters and Pudsey himself.

Then on Friday evening the Pudsey Party gets underway from 6pm.

There will be live musical performances throughout the evening from local singer songwriters, Falmouth Community Gospel Choir, Cornwall Rock Choir and Rum and Shrub Shantymen.

To keep the kids entertained there will be creative craft activities and face painting and Douglas Dapper, the Story Explorer, will be on hand with some of his weird and wonderful tales, using exhibits and artefacts to inspire the imagination.

Michael Sweeney, communications manager at the museum said: “The response from Falmouth and beyond has been exceptional.

"We are all hugely grateful to everyone who has offered their services for the day, especially the team from BF Adventure, Simon Neild from Source FM and all the musicians performing on the night.

"It’s set to be an unforgettable evening of entertainment and hopefully lots of money will be raised for a wonderful cause.”

Local fundraisers and the public are invited to Pudsey’s Party.

To come along, e-mail pudseytickets@bbc.co.uk, explaiing what you are doing to raise money and how many people are in your group, and you will receive tickets.
