A landmark pub in Truro has closed without warning.

The Rising Sun on Mitchell Hill is understood to have shut its doors for the last time at the beginning of the month.

The pub has been completely emptied of furniture and there is no sign to indicate what has caused the closure.

A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: "One minute they were there and then they were closed and nobody knows what has happened.

"They seemed to be doing quite well so it's a mystery why they closed down like that."

The popular pub re-opened in November 2012 following a refurbishment.

Attempts by the West Briton to contact the management were unsuccessful.

Probably find they were being over charged by their pub company. Punch Taverns I do believe who also owned the Swan in Truro before it shut..

run of with the gold before going under. no doubt the refurb left them a bit stuck with the bank.

Pubs are closing in their droves everywhere. They cannot compete with the large pub chains and the supermarkets. Not really a surprise?
