A Millbrook home-ware designer was handpicked to showcase her collection at a Top Drawer Spotted event.
Helen Round- a design maker of contemporary textiles and home-ware based in Millbrook-showed off her designs with ten other handpicked designers at Earls Court in London from January 12 to the 14.
Helen was spotted by Charlotte Abrahams, a freelance writer specialising in design and interiors, who has written for publications such as the Financial Times and the Telegraph Magazine.
Helen said: “It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase my designs at a UK event and fly the flag for the Duchy.
“During the event, I made some excellent contacts and also received new trade orders from national and international businesses.
“I felt very proud to be part of the spotted group and it was really good for me as a new maker to exhibit in such an event.
“I love fabrics and I love print- putting them together seems like a natural thing to do.”
The design maker creates a collection of individually hand printed pieces using linen and hemp as part of her Helen Round online business, which she set up one year ago.
Her designs are inspired by her illustrations of the Cornish landscape where she lives and works.
Helen featured three specially selected collections at Top Drawer - the Rame Head Collection, the Hedgerow Collection and the Birdsong Collection.
Pieces within the range include cushions and lampshades, tote bags, phone cosies and cosmetic bags, napkins, tea towels and peg bags.
These functional handcrafted products combine high quality with ethical production to create beautiful pieces to treasure, says Helen.
Her collection of textiles also recently featured in Country Homes and Interiors, Ideal Home and Cornwall Today magazines.
Top Drawer is the UK’s leading event for design-led gifts and accessories, organised by Clarion Events.
On the Top Drawer website Ms Abrahams said: “Everyone featured within the Spotted area is chosen for the quality and originality of the things they make.
“There’s such a wealth of talent out there but many small companies and individual designer-makers simply can’t afford to break into the trade fair market.
“By removing these financial obstacles, Clarion Events is giving these exciting businesses the opportunity to introduce their work to an international audience – and giving that audience yet another reason not to miss Top Drawer.”
