Just when you thought Cornwall had seen the last of the poor weather, the Met Office has extended its heavy rain warning with downpours predicted from midday today.

The Exeter-based national weather service has warned rain will sweep across Cornwall, Devon, west Somerset, the Midlands and Wales and will continue to do so until 9.00am tomorrow morning.

Members of the public are advised to take care when travelling.

A spokesman said: “Periods of heavy rain will affect parts of Wales, south west England and the western slice of the English Midlands during Wednesday, clearing quickly on Thursday morning; the warning has been updated to include the western edge of the Midlands.

“The public should be aware of the potential for further flooding, especially in the areas which have been affected recently.”

The initial warning was put in place yesterday and heavy rain was originally expected to pass by 6.00am today.
