APPRENTICES from Pendennis Shipyard were welcomed by Falmouth mayor Geoffrey Evans for a reception to recognise their work and the importance of their contribution to the workforce at the yard.
Mr Evans presented each of the 20 with a signed copy of the Falmouth 350 book and in return they gave him a photograph from the Pendennis Cup held in the port last year.
Mr Evans said: "I have been involved with the shipyard for 20 years and they have done so much to take on apprentices and keep them."
Last year 12 apprentices completed their training and 14 more were taken on.
In addition the company has won numerous awards for its efforts.
Jill Carr said: "It is starting to pay dividends and is the future of the company."
