The body of a man in his sixties was discovered by police in a canal in St Blazey yesterday morning.
Police officers were called to the scene at around 8.30am following reports that a body was in the water.
The man, who is believed to have been local to the area, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say his family have been informed.
Tony Joslin, sector inspector for St Austell, said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
“We carried out a proper search of the surrounding area to see whether there was anything we should be aware of,” he said.
“We found nothing of significance.”
A post mortem is due to be carried out later today.
