A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after his vehicle came off the road near Camelford.

Police were called to the A39 at Valley Truckle at around 3.20pm after members of the public who witnessed the incident reported it.

The Chrysler Voyager had allegedly collided with roadside equipment associated with traffic cameras.

Police said the vehicle had gone off the road and into a ditch. The driver allegedly “ran off” from the vehicle but police later located the 35-year-old at a petrol station forecourt opposite the ditched vehicle.

Six firefighters in one appliance from Delabole also attended the single vehicle road traffic collision. The fire crews made the scene safe and assisted with traffic control.
