FOR one of its concerts in each season the Roseland Music Society likes to present a local choir. This season is no exception as it welcomes the Four Lanes Male Choir on Saturday.

The concert takes place at Gerrans Parish Memorial Hall, Portscatho, at 7.30pm.

The choir has a long and distinguished history, having been formed in 1944. In the subsequent 70 years the choir has won many awards and competitions. These include 12-times winners at Camborne, sixth and seventh places at the Llangollen Eisteddfod, winning the Elgar Festival in Worcester Cathedral on two occasions and in 2009 was the Best Cornish Choir and Best British Choir at the International Male Voice Choir Festival.

The choir's motto is "Sing we for Pleasure – for One and All", a philosophy they will be bringing to Portscatho.

This concert has been made possible through the generous support of Making Music.

Tickets are £8 for society members, £11 for non-members and £4 for students in full-time education. They will be available on the door and can be reserved by telephoning Janet Axworthy on 01872 580610 or purchased through the Cornish Riviera Box Office, either online at www.crbo.co.uk or through their outlets in Tourist Information Offices. Any schoolchild under 16, when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult, will be admitted free of charge.
