Local businesses cross fingers for Cornwall Business Awards

FIVE companies from Camborne, Pool and Redruth lead the nominations at the upcoming Cornwall Business Awards.

Josh Hosking, 26, whose Redruth-based company ICT4 helps schools to make the most of superfast internet connections, is competing for the prize of Young Business Person of the Year.

He said: "To say I'm chuffed is an understatement and I'm glad I still count as young."

Wheal Rose's Brian Etherington Meat Company has been nominated for a second consecutive year for Best Family Business, with managing director Mark Etherington shortlisted for Business Leader of the Year.

United Downs' multiple award-winning Clear-flow is up for the Best Use of Superfast Broadband for its technology to speed the repair of damaged water pipes.

Reigning Customer Focus Champion, Coastline Housing, is shortlisted for a second time in the category, delighting finance director Allister Young.

The final local finalist is Happy Energy, hoping to scoop Best New Business in Cornwall, at barely a year old, employing six people and expected to turn over £10 million this year.
