A Lizard cyclist was left injured in the road after his bike was struck by a motorist who fled the scene in the early hours.
The 42-year-old pub worker was cycling towards Mullion on the A3083, between 11.30pm and 12.30am Wednesday morning (AUG 15) when he was hit by a car from behind near Mile End.
PC Lesley Loring, of Helston police, said the cyclist suffered a broken clavicle and was knocked unconscious in the incident.
She said: “He was travelling home from work on the Lizard and had front and back lights on his bike as well as wearing a reflective rucksack.
“He was left at the side of the road after the accident. Another motorist picked him up and drove him home. He then went to hospital.”
She said his injury means he cannot cycle or work for six weeks, adding “The road can be very busy, but at that time of night there wouldn’t have been a large number of vehicles. He had lights and a reflective bag. It is a straight road with plenty of room for vehicles to pass so he should not have been hit.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact PC Loring on 101 quoting the crime log number: DCP-20130814-0112.
