ROSELAND Music Society welcomes Wales' leading string quartet, the Mavron Quartet, on Saturday at 7.30pm at Gerrans Parish Memorial Hall, Portscatho.

They will be performing quartets by Viotti, a contemporary of Beethoven, Ravel and a new work by Gareth Wood.

The quartet members were appointed junior fellows in Chamber Music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2004, following their success in the college's inaugural Cavatina Chamber Music Competition in 2003. Later in 2004 they successfully auditioned for the Live Music Now scheme. Since 2005 they have enjoyed a residency at the Gate Arts Centre in Cardiff and in 2010 were appointed the first Ensemble in Residence at the National Concert Hall of Wales, St David's Hall, Cardiff.

Tickets are £8 for society members, £11 for non-members and £4 for students in full-time education from 01872 580610.
