PROTESTORS fighting planned renewable energy schemes in Cornwall are expected to gather at County Hall in Truro today ahead of a crunch meeting.
The fate of four solar farms – at St Stephen, near St Austell, Port Isaac, Ladock and Summercourt – will be decided by Cornwall Council’s strategic planning committee.
The march of such solar farms across the Cornish countryside – along with wind turbines - has caused outrage among locals, with many fearing a loss of important agricultural land, their impact on tourism and on areas of natural beauty.
Several other controversial planning applications will also be decided including a planned 130-home development in Pelynt, near Looe, a Tesco supermarket and filling station in Bude, and 100 new homes in Launceston.
