Irish vessel being monitored by Falmouth coastguard due to weather

A catamaran travelling between south-west Ireland and Cornwall has arrived safely in Newlyn harbor.

Falmouth Coastguard were monitoring the Irish vessel which originally planned to dock in Falmouth but, due to the poor weather conditions and a lack of fuel, had to redirect to Newlyn.

It is understood that the journey has taken crew over 22 hours.

Falmouth Coastguard is monitoring an Irish catamaran travelling between south-west Ireland and Cornwall.

The boat was originally planned to dock in Falmouth, but due to the poor weather conditions and a lack of fuel, the vessel will instead make her way to Newlyn harbour.

It is understood the journey has so far taken 22 hours.

During the turbulent weather last night Falmouth Coastguard was also involved when a lifeboat had to escort a 47ft yacht to a secure mooring after she was struggling on the dropping tide off St Helen's.
