A PLANNING inquiry is due to open in Camborne on Wednesday to look at a proposal to build 40 homes at West Tolgus.

First Step Homes (SW) Ltd's application was turned down by Cornwall Council planning officers in November 2011.

The company put in a new application for 30 homes on the same site in February and a few weeks later lodged an appeal with the Government's planning inspectorate for the original application.

In July, Cornwall Council rejected the planning application for 30 homes, again under delegated powers.

Neither application has been supported by Carn Brea Parish Council, and both applications have been vehemently opposed by West Tolgus Residents' Association.

The planning inquiry is scheduled to take place at Cornwall Council's offices at Dolcoath with a start time of 10am.
