FOUR people were left injured and police are appealing for witnesses following a serious car crash on the A38 near Liskeard on Friday night.
An 81-year-old woman - the front seat passenger of a green Suzuki Wagon Estate - received serious injuries after the car she was travelling in was in collision with a green Ford Mondeo.
The male driver of the Suzuki and the other passenger were also taken to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth and kept in over night, but are not believed to be seriously injured.
The lone male driver of the Ford in the accident which occurred at around 6pm on the A38 junction with the B3252 Looe Road, was also taken to hospital and discharged on Friday night.
The A38 was closed shortly in both directions to allow emergency services to airlift the elderly woman from the scene in the air ambulance.
The west-bound carriageway, where the accident happened, was closed for several hours and traffic diverted via Liskeard, while traffic investigators examined the scene.
