NEARLY 200 people questioned prospective Cornwall Councillors on their policies in Camborne last night.

The meeting, held at Camborne Community Centre, started with a robust debate over the number of homeless people living in the Camborne area.

Jean Charman, the chairman of Trelawney Alliance which organised the evening, said the group was anxious to hear how local people viewed the situation.

Following a debate it was decided to contact Coastline New Connections to arrange a meeting to discuss the matter further

Camborne, Pool and Redruth MP George Eustice entered the meeting at 8.30pm at which time the debate returned to the first agenda item which was the proposed development at Trewithian, Penponds and Park Holly.

There were a large number of residents from these areas at present.

Mrs Charman continued: “Most of them wanted a confirmation that Mr Eustice would be supporting building on brownfield sites and not greenfield.

“He was very supportive agreeing that he did not consider the alterations at the Treswithian junction at all necessary and agreed he would not support any development in this area.”

Housing also triggered a very lively debate.

Stuart Cullimore spoke eloquently on, what he considered, the dismal failure of Cornwall planners to protect the Cornish countryside from developers.

He also raised concerns over developers cherry picking sites for development before the local plan was put in place.

Nope, just rechecked it, there were definitely no inaccuracies (And have the e mail's to prove it)! Were you ever going to explain which of Mebyon Kernow's policies suggest they want out of "England"?

Japsto, there appears to be a thread here in which you have responded to your own comment. Thread one: by JAPSTOTuesday, April 23 2013, 5:10PM "Mebyon kernow want out of England, UKIP want out of Europe, I hope someone else will invest in Cornwall or we might as well turn the lights out. By the way I am Cornish." directly followed by thread two: by JAPSTOTuesday, April 23 2013, 10:50PM "You are entitled to your opinion but the gutless way you hide behind anonymity make your comments worthless, as for your experience with landlords I don't know what you are talking about." This is confusing as you appear to be entering into a dialogue with yourself?

Yes I know your E Mail address, its on the E Mails I have here, from when you did send a reply four years ago when you were seeking election! I'm just wondering what the "vitriolic diatribe" is meant to be.

  • JAPSTO  |  April 24 2013, 5:45PM

I think I will wait until after the election before dealing with your vitriolic diatribe, it's not even worth a reply, a little education does seem to go to some people's heads. My email is japsto@hotmail.co.uk has been for about 10 years. FYI 3 votes ahead of the Lib Dem.

Its funny that, I still have a copy of the E Mail sent to YOU in 2011, as well as other E Mails that you have never responded to. So no I'm not going to "Do one". From your responses as well as being an ineffective councillor, like a lot of tories you also seem to be a nasty piece of work (Like your colleague who seems to believe the police should be allowed to murder people without fear of punishment). Remind us what was the majority you were elected with again? 3 wasn't it? Lets just hope those 3 people have seen sense.

Fair enough, but as you couldn't be bothered to respond to the complainant in any manner, I can't imagine for a minute that you spent a great amount of time trying to resolve it! Fortunately other councillors of several political persuasions were nowhere near as ineffective as you.

  • JAPSTO  |  April 23 2013, 11:20PM

There have been numerous issues with landlords and tenants causing problems, some easier to resolve than others. it's very obvious we have differing political views, we will see what the electorate say after May 2nd.

Same as you, I'm not hiding behind any anonymity. With regards to the landlord issue, it shows how seriously you took it at the time!
