Two houses were struck by lightning in Stithians last night.
One house caught on fire and a resident had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Fire crews from Camborne and Redruth were called to the properties just after 11pm.
On arrival it was found that two semi detached properties had been struck by lightning with one property heavily smokelogged.
Firefighters detected a fire on the first floor in one of the houses.
The fire was put out by crews wearing breathing apparatus. The property was then ventilated.
One person was treated by attending Westcountry Ambulance personnel for the effects of smoke inhalation.
Further properties in the area were searched to ensure that a power surge had not affected them.
Fire and Rescue personnel stood by until the arrival of Western Power.
