A CHARITY golf competition staged by the Helston-Lizard Rotary Club at Mullion Golf Club has raised £2,000 for local charities.

The lead charity, Children`s Hospice South West (Little Harbour), has received £1,000 and the remainder will be distributed to other local needy causes.

The competition was organised by club member Rotarian Hjalmer Wara.

More than 80 keen competitors gave their time and contributed to the total money raised.

Rotary club members later visited Little Harbour, enjoying a tour of the facilities and a cup of coffee before presenting the cheque to community fundraiser Judy Pride.
