A LOCAL opticians has donated safety jackets to two Redruth schools.

Specsavers in Redruth has donated high-visibility jackets to children from Treleigh and Pennoweth schools.

The opticians visited both schools during road safety week, from November 18 to 24.

Lucy Eva, store director of Specsavers Redruth, said: "It was fantastic to supply vests to all the children, especially as it's vital to learn how important it is to be visible on the roads from a young age."

Helen Collinge, head teacher at Treleigh School, said: "Our children love going on school trips in Redruth and the surrounding countryside which means we are often crossing some very busy roads.

"The high-visibility vests will ensure that the children will be seen more easily by motorists."
