It is part of a Winter Wonderland event being staged by the Helston Light and Life Church at its new centre at the town's Water-ma-Trout industrial estate.
The rink will be open from Monday to Saturday and skates will also be provided free.
Schools are being given use of it during weekdays but it will be open for public skating sessions between 4pm and 8pm, Monday to Thursday (December 17-20), 4pm to 11pm on Friday 21 and 10am to 4pm on Saturday, December 22.
Pastor Michael Bretton said the rink was open to everyone but added that there had already been a great deal of interest shown.
He is asking people to pop along to the centre this Saturday (December 15) between 9am and noon to pick up a voucher for one of the public skate sessions, or to pick one up at those sessions during the times detailed above.
He said people could still turn up to skate at those sessions but the remaining spaces would be offered on a first come first served basis only.
Mr Bretton added: "Helston Light and Life Church (part of the Free Methodist Church in the UK) are thrilled to welcome all across the town and villages around to enjoy this seasonal event for all the family. The ice rink is offered free and it is hoped to give as many as possible the opportunity to skate. In addition to the skating we are also providing other activities for our younger guests to enjoy including watching short DVDs, meet and greet opportunities, crafts and puppet shows.
"Whether you want to skate or just come with a friend or family member who skates while you soak up the atmosphere, all are invited to enjoy the hot and cold refreshments which will be available to purchase at the centre."
