CAPE Cornwall student Amber-Rose Seddon was more than happy to lose her long, flowing locks to help children less fortunate than her.
The 14-year-old from Newlyn underwent the sponsored headshave at SHB Hairdressers last week for the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides wigs and hair pieces for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.
Amber-Rose’s mum Marilyn said: “Amber-Rose was inspired to do it when hearing about the story of little Riley Williams, of Porthleven.”
Four-year-old Riley was diagnosed with a brain tumour last December and has had to undergo three months of gruelling treatment at Bristol Children’s Hospital already this year.
Amber-Rose has already collected £516-70p for the trust – with more pledges coming in – and Marilyn thinks her daughter will be attempting other charity challenges in the future – including perhaps another headshave.
“She loves the way she looks and says she wants to do it again as soon as her hair grows back.”
