ONE OF the most successful folk acts of our time and five-times winner of Best Live Band at the Radio 2 Folk Awards, Bellowhead will be blasting into Lusty Glaze next week
The 11-piece band fusing folk, funk, rock, world, jazz, music hall and classical music, will be on stage in the natural amphitheatre, nestled at the north end of Newquay Bay, for a Sundowner Session on Monday.
"There is no one else quite like Bellowhead, and we're thrilled to have them on stage as our final headliner of the season," said Lusty Glaze Beach owner Tracey Griffiths. "They are renowned for their explosive, spectacular and theatrical live shows, which when complimented by our 120-foot high cliffs should make for a remarkable evening."
Bellowhead have transported folk music into unknown territory and spearheaded the new folk boom. They were dubbed "the greatest live act in Britain" by Radio 2's Simon Mayo.
Since their formation in 2004 Bellowhead have occupied a unique place in Britain's musical landscape. They have placed themselves at the cutting edge of the contemporary music scene while harnessing all the power and mystery of English and European musical traditions.
Their most recent album Broadside entered the UK album charts at No 16, spawned three play-listed singles on BBC Radio 2 and was voted Best Album at the 2013 Folk Awards.
The evening, which begins at 6pm, will also include live performances from Gareth Lee & Annie Baylis and People's String Foundation. The Lusty Glaze chefs will once again be satisfying bellies with gourmet burgers, pulled pork and the renowned Cornish seafood paella, all of which can be washed down with a pint of Sharp's Brewery's finest beers. Ocean Colour Scene will be playing the night before Bellowhead on Sunday, some tickets are still available. Tickets to the Bellowhead Sundowner Session are £20 and available through the box office on 01637 872444 / firstname.lastname@example.org or via www.seetickets.com
