Hayle is set to feature in a popular children’s television show which is aired nationwide this week.
Milkshake!, a breakfast show on Channel 5 which features a variety of children’s programmes, was in the town in August to film episodes for a five-minute slot on a feature called the Milkshake Monkey.
The Milkshake Monkey visits locations across the country to learn new skills.
In Hayle he visited Mr B’s Ice Cream Parlour before heading over to the Towans to train with Hayle Surf Life Saving Club.
Charlotte Barden-Lees, part owner of Mr B’s, said their section of the show involved teaching Milkshake Monkey the process of ice cream making.
“They were really keen to know how ice cream was made. We showed the pasteurising, blended up bananas, then showed them it coming out [of the freezer].”
Mrs Barden-Lee’s 10-year-old daughter Lola then had a starring role in the scenes as she got to sample the end produce alongside the puppet host.
“Im really excited it’s going to be on TV. It’s a good thing for Hayle and for Cornwall,” added Mrs Barden.
The monkey then headed over to spend the day at Hayle beach with the nippers from Hayle Surf Life Saving Club who are training to become RNLI lifeguards.
Dave Parker, Hayle SLSC, said: “Milkshake Monkey spent a day in August visiting Hayle beach. He trained with the nippers, they learnt about the different flags and why it was so important to swim between the red and yellow flags.”
Mr B’s will feature on Wednesday’s programme at 6.55am, whilst Hayle Surf Life Saving Club is set to feature on Friday December 6 at 6.55am on Channel 5.
