CYMAZ Music, supported by Youth Music and using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, is launching its newest project, YEP!

This is an exciting new opportunity for young musicians, aged 15 to 18, to work with professionals to write and perform original work.

YEP! will support up to 20 young emerging musicians from across Cornwall to develop their original ideas, music composition and performance skills. Professional musicians and music leaders will guide participants through the process of writing original music and performing these pieces in a range of venues as an ensemble.

It's initially a ten-week course taking place at dBs music in Camborne. Sessions will run from 2pm to 4.30pm every Saturday from this weekend. Every month there will be a longer weekend session from 10am to 3.30pm (dates to be confirmed).

Giles Woolley, YEP! project manager and CYMAZ music leader, said: "This is a great progression project for young musicians working at an intermediate level with any instrument to develop their creative confidence and musical proficiency. By working with industry professionals we hope that they will be inspired to continue their musical journey, meet new friends and create new work."

Bursaries are available to support with transport costs for those that need it.

To apply to be part of YEP! or for more information e-mail giles@cymazmusic.org.uk or call 01208 873555.
