HELSTON Community College A level Student Suzy Beddow has been selected to represent Great Britain's U23 Underwater hockey team at this summer's World Championships in Eiger, Hungary.

The 17-year-old's selection represents the recognition of her skills, commitment and achievements in her sport over the last year.

Suzy, the youngest member of Helston's Cornish Flickers is also a member of South West Ladies who are the current National Champions. Suzy has also represented Devon and Cornwall at U21 level, helping them secure the National age group title. Suzy also plays for Plymouth UHC.

This year Suzy hopes to improve on the bronze medal that she won two years ago, in Holland, when she represented GB at U19 level in the previous World Championships.

Suzy swims at St Ives Bay Swimming Club, is a member of Cornwall's senior county swimming squad and has represented Bodmin Swimming club in the National Arena League.

Whilst Suzy's talent is recognised and supported by The Cornwall's Lord Lieutenants Fund and she is a Cornwall Sports Ambassador, the costs are self funded.

Weekly trips to Plymouth to train and monthly trips to Leeds to train with the National squad represent a constant drain on resources so any help would be greatly appreciated.
