A SNAPSHOT of a building site in Cornwall revealed a lot more than expected - the ghostly figure of a soldier in uniform.

The figure of the soldier carrying a rifle can clearly be seen in the doorway at the former Belmont Apartments on Station Road in Looe.

Cornish Guardian reader Teresa Baker sent in the picture which was taken by her daughter’s partner.

She said: “The photo is taken in the doorway of what was the Belmont Apartments. My daughter’s partner was asked to take a photo as someone had broken into the site which is being renovated at the moment by Bond UK. There is clearly something in the background of the photo.”

It is known that the building was for many years a hotel and was used by First World War soldiers. Could this account for the ghostly apparition? Can anyone shed further light on the mystery figure?

Wasn't someone he picked up in a club the night before and was too P*ssed to recognise the day after? Oh,sorry, that was that woman from the Barbican.

Luvsthenews says the rifle in the picture is not an Enfield, which is both correct and not. It is Not an SMLE, but rather a Model 1917 Enfield, also known as 'the American Enfield'.

The lad who took the photo doesn't have a computer? That's almost as unbelievable as the ghost!

Just to put things into perspective, the lad who took the photo doesn't even have a computer and if he had the app or access to Photoshop I doubt he could work it, (no disrespect) this photo is has it was taken, he didn't have any part in bringing this to the attention of the press it was just a topic of conversation over Christmas no hidden agenda's just curiosity as why this figure appeared, ghostly figures appearing in photos is not new even if it isn't a ghost all we wanted to know is how/why but if you don't believe in a spirit world then this article is of no interest to you but there are people who will find it interesting, I'm a sceptic even though I've personally experienced unexplained happenings but I still remain open minded.

Submit the original picture for a image level analysis. This will say if it is fake. The rifle does not look like an enfield and below the missing head a large oblong pixilated block is present, this with the fact that one half is front of the doorway and the other half not makes it appear very photoshoped. The question it really asks is why is this been reported in the way it has...

I lived at the Belmont for 15 years, I always felt there was some sort of presence there. Lots of unexplainable things happened to me,. Now perhaps someone will believe me when I say the Belmont is haunted. There is no need for me to write this comment as I will not gain in any way at all.

Curious that this 'image' should appear on the brink of 2014 - the 100th anniversary of the First World War. That is a bit too much like co-incidence. I'm sure a paranormal team would willingly go there and run tests. Only then, on their findings, would make I judgement on whether to take it seriously.
