A gas tanker went into an 11,000 volt power cable in a village near Truro.

The liquid petroleum gas (LPG) tanker was travelling through Zelah when it collided with the power cable.

The village was closed off as emergency services rushed to the scene following the incident at approximately 11am.

Ann Wickwar, Zelah resident, said: “It was a live power cable so it’s awful to think what could have happened.”

At 12.45pm the area was declared safe and the tanker had been removed from the scene.
