Actors and backstage crew from an amateur dramatics group in Perranporth are looking forward to staging their eighth annual pantomime.

The Pantomime in Perranporth Society (PiPs) will begin performances of Sleeping Beauty in the Perranporth Memorial Hall next week.

This year’s performance will see PiPs veteran Lisa Lush make her directing debut and includes the group’s largest ever children's chorus of 19.

Taking the lead is Sleeping Beauty Alice Rowling, with Ian McDermott as King Norbert, Richard Thomas as dame Queen Dottie and Rachel Odgers as butler Billy.

Sue Lumley, who will be playing a fairy godmother, said: “We are all very, very excited.

“We are loving working with the script and Sleeping Beauty is such a traditional and magical pantomime.”

Evening performances will start at 7pm on January 30 and 31 and February 1.

Matinees will take place from 2pm on February 1 and 2.

Tickets are available from Hills newsagents and Snippets hairdressers in Perranporth and cost £6 for adults and £4 for children.

They can also be reserved by calling Sue Lumley on 07977479282.
