FIREFIGHTERS had to destroy part of a chimney to extinguish a fire at Roseland Crescent, Tregony, last night.

A crew from Mevagissey Community Fire Station were called to the property at around 8.25pm and used special equipment to tackle the flames.

A fire service spokesman said: “Firefighters used a stirrup pump and rods to extinguish the fire, that required bricks to be removed from the chimney breast to gain access.”
