GREAT news for all those who wish the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival could go on for longer than its regular three days on Truro's Lemon Quay each September.
This year organisers are introducing a new feature, the Festival Menu, which will run throughout the festival fortnight from Friday, September 21, to Sunday, October 7, and is open to all restaurants, cafés, hotels and pubs around Cornwall and on Scilly too.
The fixed price menus will be set at £15 for two courses and £19 for three and, as you would expect, the main feature on every menu will be the fine range of exceptional produce we have around us here in Cornwall.
Cornwall Food & Drink has just released details of this new festival concept and is inviting businesses to take part.
It's free for Cornwall Food & Drink members, but non-members are also very welcome to join in.
However, as numbers will be limited, Cornwall Food & Drink is urging businesses that do not want to miss out to act fast.
Director Ruth Huxley said: "We know that several thousand people visit Cornwall especially for the food and drink festival, so we wanted to create a way in which they can celebrate the best Cornish food and drink as much as possible during their stay.
"We also know that the tens of thousands who flock to Lemon Quay each year are loyal supporters who will relish the opportunity to make the most of this special price menu, perhaps trying out new places to eat or grabbing the chance to visit a restaurant they might otherwise feel was out of their price range. We anticipate that this will be a popular promotion and demand from businesses wanting to take part will be high."
One business already committed to taking part is Tides Restaurant at The Mariners' pub in the village of Rock.
Tom Scade, head chef, explained why: "We have been members of Cornwall Food & Drink for some time and like to support all their initiatives. We have also recently refurbished Tides Restaurant and this will be an excellent opportunity to get new customers to pay us a visit and see the changes we've made. People who come to the food and drink festival travel all over the county and it seems only right that they should see Cornish produce being promoted everywhere."
If you run a restaurant and would like to take part in this promotion, you can find all the details and an application form at www.cornwallfoodanddrink.co.uk – alternatively e-mail email@example.com or call 01872 865101.
