A Feock doctor died from stab wounds to the chest, it has emerged.
Geraint Hughes, also known as Gary and Tiger, was found dead at his home by emergency services on November 15.
The inquest into Mr Hughes’ death was opened and adjourned this morning by Cornwall Coroner Emma Carlyon at Truro City Hall.
The inquest heard a post-mortem had been carried out by Amanda Jeffrey who gave a provisional cause of death as stab wounds to the chest.
Mr Hughes’ body was identified at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro by his sister, Anne Allen.
Mr Hughes, a keen sailor, was senior partner at the Clinton Road Surgery in Redruth.
Mr Hughes’ spouse, retired GP Marion Hughes, was arrested at the scene and was later charged with murder. She is due to appear in court in March next year.
