THE Truro Fans Trust was formed in early October 2012 to help save Truro City Football Club, by assisting with fund raising activities and voluntary support.

It is working in conjunction with the preferred bidders to ensure that fans have a say in the way the club is run in the future.

The Trust currently has around 75 members and will be shortly formalising the organisation with the appointment of a working committee, each role will be entirely voluntary and each committee member democratically elected.

It is free to join as a standard member, however, if you choose to donate £10 for the current season, it will entitle you to a monthly newsletter and updates on fundraising activities and plans for the future.

The Trust has been regularly advised by Supporters Direct, an excellent organisation that assists football clubs in administration, they have helped set up AFC Wimbledon, Chester, Wrexham and Exeter supporters' trusts.

So far the Trust has assisted in raising around £2,500 through various fundraising activities and this has been passed onto the administrators.

In addition around £1,600 has been received in membership fees and donations, which it holds separately.

It is also looking to help the club by bringing in outside investment.

The longer term aim of the Trust is to be in a position of influence, where we can own a part share of the club and elect representatives onto the Football Club Board.

This is one of our key objectives and as the representative of fans of the club ensure it is run in the future with appropriate levels of financial transparency.

The Trust aims to develop closer links and help support the reserve team, ladies team and especially the youth teams.

To ensure the whole club is community based in future, including forging closer relationships with local schools and colleges. A key priority is to make sure that the future of the club is secure and supported by the whole community.

The club already attracts fans from across Cornwall and the Trust wants to build on this base to ensure the project is countywide.
