A FALMOUTH-BASED furniture designer is celebrating after receiving an order from a prominent London store.

Heal's furniture shop contacted Henry Swanzy to place an order after being impressed by three of his designs that will now become part of its spring/summer collection.

Mr Swanzy said: "It is certainly a promising start to 2014 and I am looking forward to our launch as part of Heal's new collection.

"Essentially I am trying to create an authentic harmony between the natural beauty of the materials and modern design – finely tuned but not overworked."

Workshop

Mr Swanzy has also just signed an 18-month lease on a 14,000sq ft workshop at Falmouth Wharves, North Parade, and will soon welcome his first employee, local cabinetmaker Joe Mortimer.

Much of Mr Swanzy's work uses sustainably sourced timber and indigenous woods complemented by bamboo, steel and glass.

Mr Swanzy said: "It is great to have secured a permanent workspace in Falmouth, within such a vibrant artistic community and I am very much looking forward to working with Joe."
