Proposals for a Premier Inn for Falmouth which have received more than 200 objections are being recommended for approval.

The scheme from New Cornwall Developments at Campbeltown Way will go before Cornwall Council's strategic planning committee next Thursday.

Members will be told by planning officer Dan Mitchell that the scheme is acceptable, subject to conditions.

A decision was delayed from last month to enable a public meeting to be held because of the volume of concerns.

However Mr Mitchell said the issues can be overcome and that other concerns did not outweigh the benefit of the scheme in terms of delivering jobs and attracting people to the "hub" of Falmouth.

The scheme is for a 74-bedroom hotel with eight parking spaces and if built, will lead to the loss of 21 pay and display parking spaces currently on the site.

Among the issues raised by objections were overdevelopment, inadequate parking, inadequate vehicle turning space and impact on neighbouring flats.
