The United Kingdom Independence Party’s youngest ever party chairman is in hot water after a Facebook photo album from a marijuana-fuelled party was discovered online.

In March 17-year-old Rosie Ward was appointed chairman for the Camborne, Redruth and Hayle branch of the party, but last week an album was spotted on her Facebook profile that could land Miss Ward at the centre of controversy.

She has since responded by saying that her father was present at the party and the weed was brought in by gatecrashers.

In an album on Miss Ward’s profile entitled Punk Party the album caption reads “The amount of baccy and weed I had to vacuum up.

The album was last updated four months ago and lists the location as at The Hideaway Bar in Redruth, a venue which has since shut down.

Cornwall Councillor Harry Blakeley, who Miss Ward took over from as branch chairman, said: “I’m aware that there is a situation regarding a Rosie Ward and a Facebook post.

“Before considering Rosie for the role of chairman we strongly went through her history and she assured us that she had never smoked or taken any drugs.”

On her blog www.rosaleena.co.uk Miss Ward suggests in a post that rules imposed on smokers could drive young people to more dangerous drugs.

She said: “The continued persecution of smokers with these laws has caused another, more pressing issue to rise- the use of marijuana.

“The more rules imposed on smokers, the more young people passively turn against the authority and turn to more dangerous drugs, but the European Union still fail to address the true “war on drugs” and yet totally reject the idea of legalizing them.”

Miss Ward, who has since removed the post, was unanimously elected at a branch annual general meeting back in late March.

UKIP Cornwall's chairman Steph McWilliam said: "I've spoken to Rosie and she's assured us that her father was present at the party and the drugs were brought onto the premises by gatecrashers."

Pathetic.........trawling through Facebook & Twitter - is that all the newspapers can do these days? You have a Tory MP resigning over coruption;Lord Reynard accused of sexual harrasment and countless other scandals in the last five years - including four Labour MPs serving prison time and yet our newspapers are searching through UKIP Twitter and Facebook accounts trying to find what scraps they can to smear the fastest growing political party in Britain. Even the Times got their facts wrong accusing Nigel of taking 'expenses' fro the EU when in fact all it was was a standard allowance that they all get. But he uses it for campaigning against the whole rotten and corrupt EU (whose accounts havent been audited in 19 years). I was at Portsmouth Guild Hall on Monday when over a thousand people gave Nigel a rapturous evening of applause. Nigel said he had received a letter from a 92 year old ex Bomber pilot who said: "dont worry Nigel, the flak is at it's heaviest when you are approaching the target": the target being May 22nd ellections! Good luck Rosie & don't let the blighters get you down. UKIP is an easy sell. They are the 'Peoples Party'. Tell the truth, stay honest & tell it like it is.........you won't go wrong girl!

To also add, the photographs of the little 'pot' party which went all over the web didn't seem to include any shots of Daddy. They revealed an awful lot else though. Silly girl. Even sillier political party.

But Daddy wasn't there was he Rosie? And your party got out of hand didn't it? And the owner of the premises stepped in at 10PM and forcibly closed it down, didn't he? And it took several days to clean up, didn't it? And you are in favour of legalising a Class B drug aren't you? You have made that common knowledge amongst your friends who have told their's who have told their parents which is why I get to hear the truth! I blame UKIP for appointing a teenager who still has much growing up to do as a party branch chairman. How ridiculous. And people are silly to to vote for these idiots? How deluded they are. Better not to vote at all!

".. That is if the South African UKIP nutcase hasn't deported him to 'a black country' somewhere! UKIP? You really couldn't make them up! ...".. Actually, it was Henry's comments that were "racist". He was after LESS roles for "white" people on the TV. If, as a white person, had said that about black people I'd be in a cell before you say 'blackboard'! DS

UKIP appoint a 17 year old student as a Constituency Chair?!? Too young to vote, no experience of life, full of changing emotions and now involved in drugs parties? For Heaven's sake, is this party getting even nuttier. Good material for Lenny Henry I would suggest. That is if the South African UKIP nutcase hasn't deported him to 'a black country' somewhere! UKIP? You really couldn't make them up!

He Splan, how come the Conservatives, Labour and Lib dem crackpots never seem to get the same media coverage? Fairs fair isnt it? Every party attracts people with extreme views but instead of witch hunting for them would it not be better for the media to expose them all equally and then judge the parties on how they deal with it instead of following every single UKIP member around waiting for them to say something that can be taken the wrong way. Or is that an unfair thing to ask for? But the fact a girl mentions weed on a social media site is a big deal and that reflects poorly on a political party? All i can say is people need to grow up its a no story right from the start even if it was from a Tory, Labour or Libdem councillor
