A CORNISH energy efficiency specialist was named a winner at the 2012 Cornwall Renewable Energy Awards.

Enact Energy, which was launched in Cornwall in 1996, took the Best Energy Conservation Scheme gong at the awards run by Regen South West.

Enact's marketing manager, Judith Ball, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award. To be recognised as having the best energy conservation scheme is something we are extremely proud about.

"Since our launch in 1996 we have improved the energy efficiency of more than 300,000 homes across the UK. In many areas like Cornwall, it enables households to make their homes warmer, reduce the amount of energy they use while at the same time reducing energy bills – that is extremely important to us."

As part of its latest development, Enact is in the process of becoming a Green Deal Provider, the Government's flagship, multibillion-pound energy scheme which is set to launch in late January with the aim of improving the energy efficiency of millions of homes across the UK.
