PROF David Spiegelhalter visits Penzance tomorrow evening for the 4th Humphry Davy Science and Music Lecture presented by Concerts Penzance, at 7.30pm at Humphry Davy School, alongside music performed by talented local musicians from South West Music School.
In addition to his work at Cambridge University on the Public Awareness of Risk, Prof Spiegelhalter has been guest columnist for The Times, Guardian and New Scientist and appears frequently on radio and television where matters of risk and uncertainty are discussed.
He illuminates our relationship with the world around us – of everyday happenings and rare occurrences, of our daily lives and the consequence our actions have on our life expectancy – through an exploration of risk, chance and probability.
The lecture is framed by a selection of short performances given by exceptionally talented young musicians who are all members of South West Music School, the centre for advanced training in the SW region.
Tickets, costing £4 for adults (free for under 19s), are available on the door or in advance from Mounts Bay Wine, Bread Street, Penzance.
