A man from North Cornwall has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a cold case was re-opened.
The body of 74-year-old Joan Roddam was found near her home at West Downs, near Delabole on November 8 in 2003.
A post mortem examination revealed that she had died from asphyxiation.
Police said Cornwall’s Major Crime investigation Team had carried out a review of the case.
Mrs Roddam was last seen at around 11am on Friday, November 7. Her body was found at about 9pm the following day in a field at the rear of her property in West Downs.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Their enquiries have resulted in the arrest this morning of a 42-year-old local man on suspicion of murder.”
The man is being kept in custody at Launceston Police Station awaiting interview.
