Cornwall's Cube Theatre has a new show with a difference.

Freddy Dare & The Ginger Robber! is half-fil, and half-theatre. Specifically designed for young people aged 8-13, it promises to be a treat for them but also for the whole family.

Cube's artistic director Benjamin Symes said: "We want to put theatre on the map for young people who love going to the cinema but don't often go to the theatre. We've got film, animation, music, great routines – all packed into just over an hour. But most importantly it's a great story which is funny, charming and moving."

Fred Andrews is short for his age, can't play football, and making friends at his new secondary school is proving difficult. His Dad died a while ago, and Fred's Mum is too sad to pay attention to him. Fred wants to change his world- and so he does. He becomes Freddy Dare- a superhero with a glamorous accomplice, the Ginger Robber! Together, they must overcome The Mistress, steal their opportunity and dance their way to Vegas! Will they make it?

The show previews this week, on Friday at the Tolmen Centre, Constantine (01326 341353) and Saturday at the Burrell Theatre, Truro (01726 879500)
