CORNWALL U20s have named their team for their opening County Championship match against Dorset and Wilts at North Dorset RFC on Sunday (2pm), writes Nigel Walrond.

The Duchy's plans have not been helped by the fact Truro College are playing a game in Wales the day before, while several clubs have got re-arranged league matches taking place this weekend because of the recent bad weather.

Despite those problems, the Duchy have assembled a good squad, with Colin Hatch and Paul Hurrell providing head coach Tom Rawlings with a good mix of club and college players for the contest.

Rawlings has been assisted by his brother, Mike, their Cornish All Blacks team-mate Bryn Jenkins, and Cornwall senior team backs coach Ian Morgan in developing the squad ready for the campaign.

A strong and mobile pack has experience in the form of Todd Prisk, Tyler Gendall and Neil Stanleick, with last year's captain Neil Broadbank on the bench, while there is plenty of pace in the backs, with Rhys Brownfield and Sam Chapman returning for a second year. Cornwall have only two pool matches this season, as opposed to the usual three, with their second and final group match against old rivals Devon at Penryn RFC on Sunday, February 23 (2.30pm).

Cornwall team: Tommy Phillips (Truro College), Joe Martin (Truro), Tyler Gendall (St Ives); Todd Prisk (St Ives), Luke Hattam (Truro College); Neil Stanleick (St Ives), Jon Haines (Cornish All Blacks), Brad Howe (Helston); Connor Swan (Truro College), Rhys Brownfield (Bath University); Sam Chapman (Cornish All Blacks), Jamie Bryant (Camborne), Ashley Taylor (St Austell), Luke Tidball (Truro); Jack Kessell (St Ives). Replacements: Sam Rodda (Newquay) Liam McFadden (Pirates Amateurs); Jordan Duke (Cornish All Blacks), Neil Broadbank (Exeter Uni); Harry Baker (Wadebridge Camels), Sam Fox (Wadebridge Camels,) Bradley Janes (N/A).
