Cornwall is set for a weekend of wet and windy weather as unsettled conditions return to the UK.
After several days of quiet conditions, a weather front is due to sweep across southern Britain during Saturday afternoon and evening, bringing rain and gale-force winds.
Sunday looks set to be a day of blustery showers, with more rain and strong winds predicted for Monday and Wednesday of next week, reaching 40 to 50mph generally, with some exposed areas seeing even stronger gusts.
However, media reports of a super-storm due to hit the UK next week have been played down by weather experts.
One national newspaper has reported 100mph winds could cause massive disruption across central and southern Britain.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: "Conditions do look generally unsettled for the next week, with winds on Saturday reaching gale force.
"However, it does look like fairly typical December stormy weather.
"It will be mild as well, with temperatures in Cornwall reaching 12C or 13C each day, compared to the December average of 8C."
