A CORNISH Christmas single is storming its way into the charts within hours of being released.
The song, Christmas Time (Children Sing), has been created by Helston-based charity ShelterBox, who have teamed up with global charity network Rotary International for the project.
The song, sung by Cornish singer and TV presenter Shane Solomon, cbecame available to download from the Rotary website this morning - but the number of visitors forced the site to crash.
It is also available through online retailers Amazon.com - and has already appeared at number 67 in their chart - two places above singing legend Rod Stewart.
Shane said: "The Rotary website has crashed due to the numbers visiting it, and we are at number 67 on Amazon already - and it's not even being advertised properly yet.
"We were not expecting this sort of reaction so quickly - it has been amazing and we can only hope it continues."
The single will be officially launched on the Cornwall Channel at 9.30pm this evening during the 'Rotary in the SW' programme.
The channel can be found at Sky 212 and Freesat 401, and is streamed live on www.cornwallchannel.co.uk.
