CORNWALL start their MCCA Trophy campaign on Sunday when they take on Hertfordshire at Werrington (11am).

It's the first time a one day game has been staged at Ladycross, though two championship games were played there in the late nineties.

The game should be an interesting encounter, if last year's encounter at North Mymms is a guide.

Cornwall chased down the home side's 243 to win by three wickets with a ball to spare. Matt Robins, David Roberts and Tom Sharp all made half centuries.

The win saw Cornwall through to the quarter finals where they lost to the eventual champions Cumberland.

Cornwall's XI was still to be named at time of going to press.

Former St Buryan spinner Shakil Ahmed has taken over as the professional this year from Keith Parsons.

Cornwall (from): T G Sharp (capt), M L Robins, J D Libby, D F Davis, D J Roberts, T Williams wk, C A Hunkin, K J Snell, A G Smeeth, S C Hockin, Shakil Ahmed, R J Harrison and N S Curnow.

This Sunday finally saw the start of the Cornwall Women's Sunday League, after a rain washed false start.

Truro travelled to St Austell where they were put into bat, scoring 80 for six in their 35 overs (L Fletcher 26, A Ellis 16no, B Howis 2-15).

In reply St Austell were all out for 46 (S Mackenzie 17, N Gabriel 4-5, B Rowe 4-6). Truro took 17 points and St Austell four points.

Redruth travelled to Falmouth, winning the toss and putting the home side into bat Redruth scored 112 for six in their 35 overs (S Lethley 54no). T Smith took three wickets).

In reply Redruth managed 55 for nine in their 35 overs (T Smith 18, B Casterton 5-10). Falmouth picked up 18 points and Redruth four points.
