Former Truro and Cornwall seamer Charlie Shreck has joined Leicestershire on a one year contract.
The 36-year-old has picked up 432 wickets with Nottinghamshire and Kent, at an average of just over 30, with a career best of eight for 31.
Shreck told his new club’s website: “I am really looking forward to a new challenge at Leicestershire.
“The opportunity to play a major role in the bowling attack and lend my experience to an exciting young squad is something that appeals to me and I can’t wait to play a part in helping the club move forward.”
Shreck was a consistent performer for Nottinghamshire and after snapping up more than 400 wickets in all competitions, the bowler turned down a Benefit Year in order to take on a new challenge at Canterbury.
He shone for Kent and was the county’s leading Championship wicket-taker in both seasons, taking 55 in 2013 and 33 last summer.
Director of Cricket Phil Whitticase said that he was pleased with the signing of Shreck, and happy with how things are shaping up ahead of the new season.
He said: “It is great to have Charlie on board, he has been a consistent performer over the years and has lots to offer us. He is just the bowler we have been looking for in terms of quality and experience.”
