Cornwall on flood watch as heavy rain hits the Duchy

Comments (2)

Thundery showers are expected to hit Cornwall today, marking the end of the sunniest summer in seven years.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for the region with the risk of flooding in some areas.

A spokesperson from the Met Office said: “Heavy rain, persistent in places, will affect many areas during Friday.

“The public should be aware of the risk of disruption due to localised flooding.”

Showers are expected to hit this morning, which could turn heavy and thundery, and will continue for much of the night.

Forecasters predict lighter rain on Saturday and the risk on more thundery downpours on Sunday.
