Heavy rain and gales of up to 60mph are expected to hit Cornwall tomorrow – Sunday.

The MET Office has issued a severe weather warning for rain which is expected to hit the Duchy at around 7am.

A spokesman from the Exeter-based weather agency said: “Another spell of wet and windy weather will cross the UK from the west during Sunday.

“Rainfall accumulations of 15 to 25 mm are expected quite widely, much of this falling in 6 to 9 hours.

“Gales will be an additional hazard, with gusts of 50 to 60 mph in places.”

Forecasters say flooding is anticipated in some parts of the South West.

The yellow “be aware” weather warning has been issued from 7am until 11.45pm tomorrow.
