TODAY is the last chance to support a Cornish language radio station's crowdfunding campaign to raise £5,000 for a new website.
The campaign, launched on Crowdfunder UK by Radyo an Gernewegva, is offering Cornish speaking lessons, Cornish walks and sponsorship in return for funds towards the project.
The half-hour programme, which has 800 listeners a week from as far as Mexico, Australia and America, has already received support from more than 100 people. But the race is on to support the final stage of the fundraising campaign.
Matthew Clarke, director at Kernow Pods, the business behind the station, said: "To continue the growth of the Cornish language after the last decade has seen the dialect grow from near extinction, we need to build an exciting and engaging website that gives a real home to the Cornish language.
"The site will celebrate Cornwall, the spoken word and those who wish to keep our Cornish culture alive.
"We have nearly reached our target – but we still need people to pledge to support us so we can finish our crowdfunding campaign to achieve our goals of building the website."
Phil Geraghty, managing director of Crowdfunder UK, said: "We are really proud to see this most Cornish of projects as part of Crowdfund Cornwall.
"Crowdfunding is a great way for any community to protect its heritage and attract a new audience as well as raising much-needed funds."
The deadline to support the campaign is today. See the Radyo an Gernewegva crowdfunding campaign at http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/radiokernewek
