Three Cornish hotels have scooped awards from Sunday Times travel writers who have judged them among of the best in the country.

The newspaper’s Ultimate 100 guide groups hotels into different categories.

The South West region triumphed with 32 listings in today’s pull-out travel section of the paper.

The region secured the overall winner title - he Talbot Inn, Mells, Somerset - and three category wins by establishments based near each other on the North Cornwall coast.

The spa winner is the Scarlet, Mawgan Porth. Best family hotel is the Bedruthan Steps, also at Mawgan Porth, while the seaside winner is the Watergate Bay Hotel in Newquay.

Stephen Bleach, Travel Editor of the Sunday Times, said: “Offering readers our British hotel picks all in one handy guide was a challenge, even for our expert team.

“ However, after much debate and discussion, these are our favourites and it is clear the South West has an amazing offer with a record 32 listings.’’

I travel a lot for business. I usually use the big sites to find hotels like Expedia, but recently found a far better way to find deals and that is to go to the second level--those sites like http://tinyurl.com/ns42nog who compare hundreds of sites in a single search. You still see the Trivago or Expedia deals but 100's of others also, ALL in one place. It's a great way to save on your travel budget. Congratulations to the three hotels that won the Sunday Times awards! The spa winner is the Scarlet, Mawgan Porth. Best family hotel is the Bedruthan Steps, also at Mawgan Porth. Seaside winner is the Watergate Bay Hotel in Newquay. If your travels take you to the Cornwall coast check out the site above and save money on these amazing hotels.
